It simply involves jumping headfirst off a high platform while being attached by your feet by a resistant jumping cord to the jumping place. This cord is elastic, therefore, when stretched to its maximum, it will make you bounce back, which is basically a lot of fun.
The first time this sport was introduced was back in 1988, in New Zealand, the country where adventurous activities are extremely common. Soon, though, it became extremely popular all over the world.

However, his adventure went horribly wrong when the length of the cord was miscalculated, causing him to hit his face and went on under the water up to his waist.
- Eye injuries. Another unfortunate jumper experienced eye injuries while holding his head angled back at the time of an underwater plunge.
- Collapsed lungs. This happened to a beginner jumper who experienced a sudden chest pressure change.
- Finally, there is the risk of breaking the spine. It is the most severe risk of bungee jumping. This injury was experienced, unfortunately, by a man who attempted a usual jump, being caused by the sudden straining of the cord.
As a result, bungee jumping has gone through a series of trial-and-error improvements that have unfortunately caused several serious injuries and even deaths. Operators are continuously seeking to improve their safety measures to ensure an experience that is as safe as possible.
The specialized literature contains little information on the joint strain caused by bungee jumping. It is, though, known that this activity may cause whiplash, a range of neck and spine joint injuries.
This is the result of suddenly jerking the neck backward and forward, similar to what happens in a car accident.

Generally, bungee jumping is a safe adventure. However, there have been cases when the extreme forces that come into action when the body is pushed back upward caused serious injuries to the spine.
